Australians Outraged by Texts Encouraging Them to Vote No in the Voice Referendum

Many thousands of Australians are believed to have received unsolicited texts from the Liberal Party, encouraging them to vote No in the upcoming Voice referendum.

The texts, which appear to be from Northern Territory senator and No campaigner Jacinta Price, have been met with outrage by many Australians, who say they are "disappointed" and "disgusted" by the tactic.

Senator Price has defended the texts, saying that she has a "moral obligation" to make her views on the Voice known to as many people as possible. However, her comments have been met with criticism from both sides of the political aisle, with some accusing her of "playing dirty" and "spreading misinformation."

The Voice referendum will take place on 27 May 2023. It is a proposed change to the Australian Constitution that would create a new body, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. The Voice would be a permanent body that would advise the Australian Parliament on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
